Can you distribute Udio music?
Short answer: Not under Udio's current terms. Output may be used only for personal, non-commercial purposes and cannot be downloaded, on every plan. That means there is no supported path from Udio to Spotify, Apple Music, or any other store right now.

What do Udio's terms say right now?
- No downloads. Udio's terms state that you may not download copies of any output, and no plan is exempt.
- Personal, non-commercial use only. Users agree not to exploit the services or any output for any commercial purpose.
- No off-platform distribution. Output may not be published or made available on streaming or user-generated-content platforms such as Spotify, YouTube, TikTok, or SoundCloud. Sharing udio.com links to on-platform songs is still allowed.
- Udio and/or its licensors own the output, and any ownership that vests in you is assigned to them under the terms.
- Transition terms remain in effect. Udio's help center says the platform is still governed by the transition terms introduced on October 29, 2025 while it moves to fully licensed applications.

When did Udio's terms change?
- May 16, 2025Udio's terms at the time allowed users to use output for personal and commercial purposes and to download an audio copy. Udio claimed no ownership of user output.
- October 29, 2025Udio announced its Universal Music Group settlement and partnership. Downloads were disabled the same day and the terms were revised. Personal and commercial use was still permitted at that point.
- November 3 to 5, 2025A 48-hour download window for existing songs, announced by Udio on Reddit and reported by Billboard. Udio was reported as saying downloaded songs would be subject to the prior terms. That statement does not appear in the live terms.
- November 12, 2025Terms revised to the current version. Use is limited to personal and non-commercial purposes, the commercial permission is gone, and ownership of output sits with Udio and/or its licensors.
- November 19, 2025Udio announced its Warner Music Group partnership. Udio's help center says the platform is still governed by the transition terms introduced on October 29, 2025.
- 2026Further licensing deals followed. A licensed successor platform has been reported but, as of September 14, 2026, no launch is confirmed and no verified Udio source advertises downloads or commercial rights for any plan.
Can you release a Udio track exported under earlier terms?
Tracks downloaded before October 29, 2025, or during Udio's November 3 to 5, 2025 download window, were made under earlier terms that allowed audio download and commercial use. Udio's current terms contain no grandfathering clause; its only statement on those tracks is a reported remark that downloaded songs are subject to the prior terms. Eligibility depends on the terms in effect when the track was created and exported, and on your own records. Review those terms and get advice before releasing.
Records to keep
- Plan receipts and subscription dates covering the day the track was created and the day it was exported.
- Creation and export timestamps for the track, including the format you exported.
- A copy of the Udio terms in effect at that time, saved as a PDF or screenshot with the date visible.
- Any Udio announcement, help article, or message you relied on, saved the same way.
